The Master’s Degree in Mountain Area Management, with a professional orientation, is an official master’s programme that provides specialised postgraduate training for students with the ability to:
-
Carry out specific analyses of the dynamics, potential and challenges of mountain areas.
-
Design proposals and organise innovative planning and management initiatives aimed at the sustainable development of these areas, both in the public and private sectors.
This is an innovative master’s programme in its field, as there is currently no other specific training offer focused on the management of mountain areas within the wider academic context.
The programme comprises 60 ECTS credits and can be completed full-time in one academic year or part-time over two years. The on-campus component includes the compulsory courses and requires a four-month stay in Lleida, from October to January. The remaining courses are electives and are delivered online through the UdL Virtual Campus.
Some courses from the master’s programme may also be taken independently to obtain the qualification of University Specialist in Planning, Management and Entrepreneurship Tools for Mountain Areas. Full details are available from the Centre for Continuing Education of the University of Lleida (5 places available).
The collaboration between the Departments of Geography of the five universities offering the programme — University of Lleida (coordinating institution), Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Girona, University of Barcelona and Rovira i Virgili University — ensures a high level of quality, based on their long-standing academic and research tradition in mountain studies. This collaboration is further strengthened by the support of IDAPA (Institute for the Development and Promotion of the Alt Pirineu and Aran).
